What is Thermal Imaging

Thermal imaging is an innovative technology that can aid a CERTIFIED inspector to help find items not visible to the naked eye.  This service will enhance a home inspection by allowing the inspector to see temperature differentials which can be further evaluated for moisture, hot/cold air intrusion, and possible electrical defects among other things.

Thermal Imaging can assist in the detection of:

  • Water infiltration

    • Roof leaks located with recent rain fall within 24-48 hours

  • Cold / Hot air infiltration

  • Excessive moisture in building materials

  • Stud / Joist / Beam / Rafter placement

  • Insulation gaps, insufficiency, and unevenness

  • Electrical drops, panels, breakers, switches and wire connections

  • Heating and cooling duct placement, insulation, air leaks

  • Pipe locations
